The GYROKINESIS Method is the heart and soul of the GYROTONIC Expansion system. GYROKINESIS® classes can be adapted to fit anyone's ability. People from all walks of life including accomplished athletes, fitness enthusiasts, senior citizens, and people recovering from an injury or dealing with a disability take GYROKINESIS classes. By the end of a GYROKINESIS session, one's entire system is awakened and brought into greater balance.    Is GYROTONIC exercise new?

While the system has been around for a few decades, many have not heard of The GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®. Juliu Horvath, a modern visionary in the world of mind-body development, created GYROTONIC® equipment and exercise after years of intense study and self-exploration seeking to heal his own body. It is a sophisticated mind-body fitness system that ingeniously combines exercise with the energetic awakening and transformation of Chi Kung (and other forms of internal martial arts), the flexibility and balance of yoga, the strength and body toning of weight training, the grace and elegance of dance, the internal focus and calm mind of Tai Chi, along with improved core strength, coordination and aerobic conditioning.

The GYROTONIC Equipment 

GYROTONIC exercise is performed on unique and beautiful hand-crafted wooden equipment which offers both support and the resistance of water. Exercising on the equipment provides similar benefits as yoga and swimming (producing long lean strong muscles and increased flexibility). Exercises include unique arching, spiraling, curling, and undulating movements (combined with breath, rhythm and flow) with counter balanced weights (yet without any strain to the body). The levers, pulleys and handles provide continuous resistance, developing muscles that are generally ignored in standard exercise approaches, while allowing your body to move in ways no other exercise system does. It is really one of the most ingenious systems available for the human form. In some circles, it is considered the couture of exercise. 


Circular rather than linear in nature, GYROTONIC exercise incorporates spiraling and undulating motions on multiple movement planes, moving smoothly back and forth from contraction to expansion with the feel and support as though moving through water. What is a "Hawaiian Mixed Plate"?

In Hawaii, where we are from, the plate lunch is a quintessentially Hawaiian meal.  A plate lunch with more than one entrée is often called a mixed plate


Our mixed plate sessions give YOU two (or more) "entrée" of GYROTONIC, Yoga and/or Pilates (as well as any of the other movement arts we specialize in).

I was a long-time student of Laura's here in Kona. With her broad cross-technique experience coupled with her acute biomechanics knowledge, she has the skill set to directly address a student's needs. Depending on how my body was doing a given day, we'd do some Gyrotonic to loosen up the stiff computer-desk joints, then Pilates for strengthening the core, then stretches from Pilates and Yoga to prepare for my next day at work. We ask that every new client begin their GYROTONIC equipment practice with a series of private lessons in order to learn the fundamentals and core principles of this amazing system.  

Once a certain level of skill has been developed, we are happy to create duet sessions for our GYROTONIC clients utilizing both the Pulley Tower and the Ladder.


We look forward to arching, curling, spiraling, and undulating with you soon.

GYROKINESIS Group Class

To join a Gyrokinesis group class all you need to do is sign up and bring a body willing to move and a mind willing to learn.


Do plan on attending a minimum of 3 classes to really feel the benefits of this amazing system.


Attending our Introduction to The GYROTONIC Expansion System workshop or booking Private lessons in Gyrokinesis are another way to begin this journey by starting with a strong foundation in this movement style prior to heading to the flow of a group class.
