One student, one instructor
Private lessons provide the quickest results in learning a new system of movement, and are geared to your pace, your goals or limitations, and your schedule. If your goal is to join one of our awesome Gyrotonic Trio Lessons, we require all students to begin their Gyrotonic Journey with a series of four private lessons.
Private Lessons are ALWAYS the choice when recovering from an injury, surgery, or working with any medical issues.
Our Gyrotonic Applications for Dancers Program is available in Private, Semi and Trio formats.

Our Trio Lessons are geared toward healthy curious movers. In the more advanced lessons and workshops you will experience more challenging choreography, your orientation to the Tower and Handle Unit will vary throughout and/or there will be a focus on a certain theme or specific aspects of the exercise system. And, while we are thrilled to be able to offer these Trio group movement experiences on the Gyrotonic Pulley Tower / Handle Unit, we do suggest that all clients check in with private lessons from time to time.
Please note: Regardless of your fitness level and experience with other modalities, prior to joining one of our Trio Group Gyrotonic lessons it is particularly important to take time to learn to safely set yourself up on the equipment and be sure of your settings via the completion of four private lessons. And, if you are a new mover, just getting back into working out or have a chronic physical imbalance / pain or an injury, we do recommend that you take private sessions to until both your instructor and you feel comfortable to join a trio.
We level our trio lessons to ensure a good fit for our clients. We look at goals, abilities, personalities, and more. Want to begin a trio for you and two friends? Let's make it happen!
Beginning Gyrotonic (and our Intro to Gyrotonic Workshop) is a slower moving class, and offers students the opportunity to learn at their own pace. This is also an opportunity for those new to The Gyrotonic Method to experience a class.
Level 1 is where you'll learn the foundational movements and exercises of the method. You'll also learn about things such as how to set up your equipment, breath patterns, what are your Seed Center and Fifth Line, and much much more.
This is where all new students begin after completing a minimum of four private lessons.
Level 2 (currently only offered by Laura) is where we begin our exploration of more advanced Gyrotonic exercises from the Level 2 repertoire AND we play on the full array of Gyrotonic Specialized Equipment.
(Joining a level 2 lesson is by instructor approval only. Speak directly with Laura if you're interested.)
Specialized Equipment Trio (added upon request - currently taught by Laura and Steve ). These Specialized Trio sessions focus solely on the full array of the Gyrotonic Specialized Equipment and are geared towards full body strength and stretch.
Gyrotonic Applications for Dancers Trio (added upon request - currently taught by Laura and Steve).
These Dancer sessions have two "personalities":
1) one is geared towards the pre-professional or professional dancer looking to enhance their craft. We'll work with proper muscle recruitment to enhance turnout and turns, finding length, posture, pelvic placement, core strength and much more. Dance teacher giving you consistent corrections? Are your hips turning out evenly? Need to build core strength? Let's help make those changes. (Taught by Laura and Steve). Sessions utilize both the Pulley Tower/Handle Unit and the Specialized Equipment;
2) the second is towards healthy curious moves who want to learn to dance with the Gyrotonic Pulley Tower (soooooo much fun!). Laura teaches these "Gyrotonic for your Inner Dancer" classes to fun world music, all while learning, laughing, and finding ease and strength in the body. These classes are taught exclusively on the Pulley Tower/Handle combo units.
How can this format benefit you? Read below and let's dance!
For the pre-professional and professional dancer.
Available as Private, Semi Private and Trio instruction. (Trios added upon request). Currently taught by either Laura or Steve. Sessions will utilize the Pulley Tower/Handle Unit and the Specialized Equipment.
DANCERS ALL OVER THE WORLD ARE USING THE GYROTONIC® METHOD AS A CORE PART OF THEIR TRAINING...HERE IS WHY:
This system was designed by Julio Horvath, who was a professional dancer and suffered numerous injuries. He tried to overcome them but nothing worked. Eventually he decided to come up with his own solution to help him heal those injuries. This later became known as the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®
Dancers will learn to simultaneously stretch and strengthen each muscle group in a way that is identical to the range of motion needed in dance class, increasing flexibility in a usable way.
Dancers will learn to use the expansion system to allow muscles to help make room in the joints and strengthening the areas around those joints, preventing unnecessary compression during training and exercise - ultimately helping to prevent injuries and staying healthy longer!
Holding proper alignment has to do with the balance of strength between muscle groups. Through this system the body will learn what it FEELS to be aligned and will follow that naturally to finally achieve its own unique alignment.
Balance is perfected with two things: Alignment and strength. Whether you’re a prima ballerina on pointe, or a contemporary dancer moving from one balance to another, you need to have jaw dropping balance. Dancers will not only have one on one time to learn more about what makes their body unique, but with the specialized GYROTONIC® equipment and eye of the trainer, it will highlight any inconsistencies in their body that are preventing the best balance possible. And who doesn’t want better balance?!
Gone are the days of dancers looking “frail”. Dancers are stronger and more diverse movers than ever before. The problem with tradition strength and cross training for dancers, is it’s done in a static or two dimensional plane. Dancers need strength in the every aspect of movement. GYROTONIC® exercise for Dancers is designed to strengthen the joints and muscles in their 3 dimensional realms, creating strength at every level of movement. It focuses on the importance of a “connected” body, meaning, your shoulder girdle and pelvis work together to achieve the perfect structural balance. Without both, it’s like trying to build a skyscraper without laying the foundation. Eventually it’s going to crumble.
Using the GYROTONIC® Methodology, one can easily learn how to use the best muscle groups.
Not only does our breathing give our muscles oxygen to perform at the highest capability but our breath enhances movements. Every dancer has been in a class and told to “breath” or “use your breath” but do you really know how to? GYROTONIC® exercise uses different breaths to achieve the maximum strength, extension, and connection through the whole body. Instantly increasing your bodies capability.
